About Chia Seeds

My name is Sophia and I spent much of my youth cringing whenever I’d hear “Ch-Ch-Ch-Chia! So-So-So-Phia!” Now, about 14 years later, I have finally learned to accept the Chia as a friend and not a foe, with my new found discovery of Chia seeds (or Salvia hispanica L. seeds). According to Wikipedia, a Chia seed is

“a species of flowering plant in the mint family, Lamiaceae, that is native to central and southern Mexico and Guatemala. It was cultivated by the Aztec in pre-Columbian times, and was so valued that it was given as an annual tribute by the people to the rulers. It is still widely used in Mexico and South America, with the seeds ground for nutritious drinks and as a food source. It is also used for Chia Pet planters.”

I’ve been hearing so many positive things about them that I’ve decided to spread the word and sell them myself (easier than coercing people to go to Whole Foods or another health food store on their own), so I’m doing it through LifeMax. The LifeMax brand is unique in that it blends three different types of Chia seeds (and nothing else! No preservatives, no additives, no nothing!) for a result that is gluten–free, trans–fat free, sugar–free, high in fiber and protein, has no taste or smell and can be deliciously combined with many foods! Since I’m kind of a skeptic, I’ve also decided to take them  myself and see what sorts of benefits it provides for me, plus I’ve started a collection of Chia Recipes so that you can easily incorporate them into your daily life!

If you’re interested in purchasing the LifeMax Mila Chia seeds (different from those found on iHerb.com, Amazon or even Whole Foods), please visit my Sophia’s Chias store (when life gives you lemons…). Let me know if you’ve seen any benefits and I’ll add you to the Chia Reviews page!
