Chia News and Chia Clinical Study

Just thought I’d let you all know about Chia seeds in the news:

  1. Time Magazine Article: Feed Your Cells and Keep Them Young (Feb 11, 2010) all about the anti-aging benefits of a high Omega-3 diet (Mila Chia Seeds have 8 times more Omega-3s/gram than Atlantic farmed or wild salmon)!
  2. New Clinical Study on LifeMax Mila Chia Seeds and Lowered Cholesterol from the University of Texas Health Science Center.
  3. A Mercury News mention of Chia Seeds with a pretty funny ending (3/29/2010).

My mom and I are hosting a LifeMax Mila Chia party at our house this weekend and we’re making some recipes. Can’t wait!

I am unable to open the link to “LifeMax Mila Chia Seeds and Lowered Cholesterol” Can you advise?

    • Hi, Virginia. I’m sorry that you’re having trouble opening up the PDF. Do you have Adobe Acrobat or another PDF-compatible program installed? Once you click on the link, it should begin to download the PDF to your desktop or downloads folder. Please let me know if you are still unable to open it, or what specific error message you are receiving.

Hi. I was able to open the link mentioned by Virginia, but it points to the preliminary statement. Has there been any follow through or updated document? What was the final conclusion of the study? Was it published in the literature?

    • Hi, Camilo. Thanks for asking. Currently the study is being followed through on a larger scale and I will post the official study as soon as it comes through. I know that there is also someone testing the LifeMax Mila brand against other brands of chia at the moment, which has been yeilding some exciting preliminary results (Mila has an incredible amount of antioxidants and therefore a 10-year shelf-life, for example), but again, it is not complete so I can’t put it up yet. Please let me know if you have more specific questions that I can answer.
